      FM Radio Stations in Ireland

      FM Radio Stations in Ireland

      There are many different radio stations to choose from in Ireland. Thanks to the internet, there are even more available to you and you are not affected by being in a different location to the station’s remit. Regardless of if you are listening on a physical radio, car radio or even online, here are some of Irish FM radio stations.

      RTÉ Radio 1
      The national broadcaster has been ongoing since 1926 and doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. They have been Ireland’s main source of information for almost a century and have documented many historic occasions over the years.

      Nowadays RTÉ Radio 1 features some of the country’s best presenters such as Claire Byrne, Ryan Tubridy, Joe Duffy, Ray D’Arcy and many, many more. It can be found on 88-90 MHz or on their website rte.ie/radio1/

      Newstalk
      Newstalk is an independent radio station and is operated by News 106 Limited which is part of Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp. It is the only station of its kind in Ireland in the sense that it exclusively covers news-based content.

      Notable figures such as Pat Kenny, Sean Moncrieff and Jessica Kelly hosts popular shows among many others. You can listen live on their website Newstalk.com or tune in on the radio on 106-108 MHz.

      Today FM
      Set up in 1997, Today FM broadcasts all around the country. They’re currently the number one radio station for 25-44-year-olds. The station features a bit more music than the previous two while also having chat shows with notable presenters.

      Matt Cooper, Dermot Whelan, Dave Moore and Ian Dempsey are among some of their well-known presenters. Today FM can be found on 100 and 102 FM as well as on their website todayfm.com.

      Around the country, there are many different FM stations in every area. Here are some Dublin-centered stations.

      Radio NOVA
      Radio NOVA has been broadcasting since 2010 and is the place for rock and alternative music in the capital. They play the likes of The Killers, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Keane, Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, U2, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, The Who and more. They broadcast to Dublin and it’s surrounding commuter areas.

      Colm Hayes, Lucy Kennedy, Marty Miller and Dee Woods are some of Nova’s stars. Listen along on Nova.ie or on the frequency of whatever area you’re in. Balbriggan, North Co Dublin – 100.1 FM, County Dublin – 100.3 FM, County Meath – 100.3 FM, East Kildare – 100.5 FM, East Wicklow – 95.7 FM and North Wicklow – 95.7 FM.

      FM104
      Set up in 1989 under a different name, FM104 is a commercial local radio station. It broadcasts throughout the county of Dublin. It plays the latest pop music, as well as dance, R’n’B, hip-hop and even reggae at times.

      Some of it’s notable presenters include Jim-Jim Nugent, Mark “Nobby” Noble, Emma Nolan and Ben Murray. They can be found on 104.4 FM or on their website FM104.ie.
